As part of our World War II topic, we learn about the events in Dunkirk in May 1940. Children investigate a variety of primary and secondary sources around Operation Dynamo including newspaper reports, Churchill’s infamous speeches and paintings. Subsequently, pupils use their history enquiry skills to critically discuss and form a judgement as to whether they believe Dunkirk was a victory or defeat for Britain.
