Showcasing Practical Learning Year 5 Summer - Music
In relation to our summer term topic (Brazil), the children learnt about the different genres of music across the country. We chose to focus on a particular style (Samba) to explore within our music lessons. The children worked together to form a bateria, playing traditional Brazilian instruments such as surdo drums, tamborims, agogo bells and ganzas. During their learning, Year 5 demonstrated their musical abilities whilst experimenting with varying tempos, different rhythmic patterns and a range of dynamics. They then were invited to a concert, alongside other schools, where they had the opportunity to perform the ‘Hip Hop Groove’ that they had learnt in class.
