Showcasing Practical Learning Year 5 Spring - DT
Beginning the process of a design and technology project, we researched traditional Viking recipes that the children could replicate, which linked to our spring term topic. We sourced the ingredients for our recipe and, to the relief of the children, this did not involve the manual labour of grinding wheat on a quern stone that they had endured on our trip to Murton Park! Whilst following the method for their products (Viking bread and fruit punch), a range of skills were required including measuring, weighing, mixing, kneading and cutting using the bridge method. Once finished, all of the pupils enjoyed sampling and evaluating their prototypes.
