Resilience, hard work and a good sense of humor!
Some of our pupils listened to a wonderful life story of resilience and hard work today as Chris Kamara, MBE, shared with us his journey as he chased his dream of becoming a footballer. Told with enthusiasm and passion for sport, we learnt all about his life from being a young boy at school, dreaming of playing professional football. He managed challenges with perseverance and determination, scored goals for clubs such as Brentford and Stoke City, before achieving his dream and playing for Leeds Utd. He shared with us how proud he was to be one of the few black football managers at that time. As the playtime bell rang for 'full time' on his assembly, the pupils had enjoyed learning all about him, they had asked interesting questions and laughed along with him as he shared some great video footage from his many years working in television.
We are very lucky at Seven Hills, which is a special place for him too, as he was able to tell his story in the presence of two of his wonderful grandchildren Billie and Solomon.
