Fundraising and Competitions
Fundraising for Marie Curie Cancer Care
In October 2011 we raised money for the Marie Curie Cancer Care Charity where we each donated money in return for a daffodil to grow. On February 9th 2012 our then Eco-Club presented an assembly to the whole school about the charity. We spoke about who Marie curie was, why a charity was set up in her name, and where the money raised might go to.
Below are some pictures of our Marie Curie assembly.
Here is our assembly centrepiece. We had some daffodils to show the changes that took place. We also played a game of true or false to help children learn about the charity and some of the facts.
Here are some paintings that we created of a daffodil to celebrate our Marie Curie Fundraising.
Here are some of the fact cards that we used to tell people about the Marie Curie Charity and where some of our money may be spent.
Rexam Beverage Can Company Competition
In 2012 I recieved an email asking whether we would be interested in taking part in a competition run by local company Rexam. The competition entailed children saving drinks cans and bringing them into school. We had great support from parents and we managed to collect 216 kilos. In July 2012 we also recieved notification that we had won 1st Prize and received £500 which will be fed into Eco-team training and buying resources to support our sustainable development.
