What is a Children’s Centre?

Children’s Centres provide activities, support services, advice and sometimes childcare for children aged Birth – 5 years. Children’s Centres aim to provide opportunities for babies and young children to get the best start in life by supporting families and offering fun, educational things for them to do.
 

Who can use them?
Any family, parent/carers with children under the age of 5 years but sometimes older children can come along too.
 

What goes on there?
Activities vary from Centre to Centre but include; Baby massage, Baby yoga, Toddler groups, Parenting programmes, Breast feeding support, Health services, Job Centre plus drop-in, Counselling  services, Young parent groups, Dad groups, SEN support, Childminding network groups, Outreach support, Childcare advice and MUCH MUCH MORE!


What are the costs?
Most activities are FREE but some specialists groups do have a small charge however don’t let this put you off as all Centre’s will be flexible where possible.

How do we get involved?
Simple pop into your nearest Centre or give us a call! Alternatively ask your Midwife or Health Visitor for a registration form

In need of some extra support?
Parenting is not easy so from time to time we all need a little extra support. We can help you with 1-1 sessions for issues like; parenting, child development, domestic violence, child behaviours, post natal depression, Special Needs and much more. Referrals can be made for specialist support by your Health Visitor, GP, Midwife, Social Care or even by yourself.
